Timberline Team

Project Management Intern

February 2020 • Winona Lake, IN

What I liked

This internship has offered me many opportunities for personal and professional growth. It is filled with real-world applications and you often get to work alongside other interns on a myriad of projects. Dave, the owner, is very personable and shapes each internship to fit the professional needs of the individual.

What I wish was different

I guess it would have been nice to know ahead of time what exactly the internship would look like, but that also adds to the value of this position. Although you may have a specific title, you will often get to work in many different fields (marketing, management, administration, etc..).

Advice

Be willing to work hard and come into the experience with humility. It may be unpaid, but there is definitely value in your time at Timberline, so expect to grow professionally and personally.

Project Specialist

November 2019 • Winona Lake, IN

What I liked

Dave, the owner, is awesome. He has high expectations, but he is always very encouraging and understanding that school comes first. He elevates relationship above work whether it be calling an office, talking to a client, or in a meeting with me. He makes sure that I will be able to take away a couple projects from this internship in order to show employers what I have done. He cares about each employee as a person, not just someone who works for him.

What I wish was different

I can't think of anything. I am given the freedom to do work without being too closely monitored, but I feel comfortable enough to ask for help without being ashamed that I do not the answer.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions and ask for specific types of projects that you would like to do.

Graphic Design Intern

January 2011 - December 2012 • Winona Lake, IN

What I liked

Dave always treated me as part of the team. He included me in meetings that were well out of the scope of a graphic design intern but he wanted me to learn more about marketing than just the design side of things. He treated me like a professional and not like some kid to babysit. I learned so much from working with him and for him.

What I wish was different

I can't think of anything I would want to change. Overall it was a great experience and it prepared me for future positions.

Advice

Soak up as much info as you can.

Marketing Intern

August 2015 • Winona Lake, IN

What I liked

Dave invested fully in me as an intern. He never gave me work he wouldn't do himself. I felt comfortable asking questions and for advice. Dave allowed me flexible hours that worked with my academic and softball schedule. He was always appreciative of my hard work. His outgoing personality made it easy to want to go to work everyday.
