The Town Hall Theater is the crown jewel of Middlebury’s arts scene and represents a celebration of culture and community. In 1883, the Town Hall Theater was the center piece of Middlebury culture; however, over the years the building had deteriorated and stopped functioning. In 2000, a coalition of citizens and community foundations led by Doug and Debby Anderson purchased the old decrepit theater, and began a campaign to refurbish the building. Eight years, and $5,000,000 later Middlebury had a state-of-the-art theatrical facility.
