What I liked

Working for the town of Derry, NH, I loved the responsibility I was given at the workplace. I was given the opportunity to do a lot of work independently. This being so I was given my own work truck and was trusted to get my work done without having someone over my shoulder. This really impacted me in such a positive way, as I developed and bettered my time management skills and independent work ethic. I also loved how this workplace was a rather stress-free environment, and my co-workers were very kind, respectful and genuine people!

What I wish was different

I really enjoyed working for the Town of Derry, however the workday started at 7am everyday, which meant I had to wake up at 6am everyday, which was definitely tough sometimes. This being so, I wish that the workday had started at 8am rather than 7am just so I could have an extra hour of sleep! Overall, there wasn't anything else I would have changed besides the start of day time.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share about this experience is that you have to have good time management skills. You are given a lot of trust and responsibility at this job, meaning you don't have someone telling you exactly what to do, rather you are responsible for getting the necessary work done and knowing what work needs to be done. In an 8 hour work day, it is very important to schedule your day out correctly so that you are able to keep up with your given tasks. Doing this properly will result in positive feedback and pay increase!
