I enjoyed working with the students and collaborating with the ELL department.
What I wish was different
I wish that it had been longer or had another internship/other opportunities to work and potentially earn some money.
Advice
Learning another language isn't crucial but it is very useful in this line of work. The most common languages are Portuguese and Spanish.

Substitute Teacher
May - August 2019 • Tewksbury, MA
What I liked
I liked getting to work with young kids and have a job that will help me gain experience in my profession. Being a history and secondary education double major, getting hands on experience being the head of a high school class was amazing.
What I wish was different
I wouldn’t change a thing. I got to work almost every day Monday through Friday. If I could change one thing I wish I could have had the opportunity to teach in a history class.
Advice
If you are interested in being a teacher, you should 100 percent be a substitute teacher. It’s a great experience, looks amazing on a resume, provides real life experience, and can provide connections for future teaching jobs.
