This summer was my fourth year with the festival, and my first as an offical summer staffer. I was overjoyed at my place within the office, and my ability to be more involved with women who had influenced me since I was 17 since my humble beginnings as an intern.
What I wish was different
Living in Traverse City was difficult, when having an apartment in Chicago. My stipend barely covered my rent from home, so I had to get a subletter. Having a slighter larger stipend would of helped cover all of the funds I lost by being there for over two months.
Advice
No matter your age, and supposed ability, never let senior staff or even just those older than you make you feel that you are not capable or qualified to do your job.
