Government Relations Intern

June - December 2019 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

I loved working with my team. The job had a very professional atmosphere and I really enjoyed seeing how a District office functions. It was very informative to take part in corporate meeting and contribute thoughts. I liked wearing business clothes everyday, it made me feel good about myself and carry myself with more class.

What I wish was different

I wish they had been able to permanently hire me. They brought me back twice and extended the last internship as far as they could, but, sadly, their is not enough in the budget to make my position permanent.

Advice

Go with the flow. When you first arrive in a professional office try to watch how everyone acts before you start doing things. Don't get on your phone. Try to keep it at a minimum. Talk softly and never swear. Try to take part in every activity you can, an internship's best gift to a student is the knowledge you gain.
