UCCS College of Letters, Arts & Sciences (LAS)

About UCCS College of Letters, Arts & Sciences (LAS)

LAS provides breadth of instruction for all students of the UCCS campus, including those in the professional schools and colleges. More than half of the students at UCCS are enrolled in LAS. This breadth exposes all students to the challenge, excitement and demands of clear self-expression, analysis, reasoning, comparison, experimentation, and awareness of alternative perspectives. LAS provides depth in specific academic disciplines. Students in LAS can choose from 19 majors and 53 minors in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. This specialization is important not only for the skills, perspectives, and knowledge gained, but is also the key to success in subsequent education and careers.

Peak Learning Experiences offers multiple opportunities for students to engage with peers, faculty, and the broader community, to strengthen and apply theoretical knowledge and skills to real-world careers and problems.

LAS provides students with real-world experiences to help develop the skills employers’ value, including critical thinking, analytical skills, team work, and communication.
