UCR TRIO Upward Bound Programs

About UCR TRIO Upward Bound Programs

The Upward Bound Programs at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) are designed to help low-income high school students and potential first-generation college students succeed in high school and pursue a higher education. UB is offered at Perris, Rubidoux, Moreno Valley, Banning, Ramona, Norte Vista, Colton, Bloomington, and Eisenhower High Schools. While it emphasizes academics, the program also includes fun enrichment activities for participants. Funded by a U.S. Dept. of Education grant, UB provides all of its programs and services for free and pays for any trip-related expenses. All UB programs and services are designed to motivate, encourage, and prepare students to graduate from high school and continue on to complete their postsecondary education.

Academic Counselor

“This was a completely new experience for me being an Academic Counselor for Upward Bound's summer program. I liked being able to work with the High school students in the program on their college application process and also on class work they had to complete through out the duration of the summer program. I admired being a mentor to the students. In addition I also enjoyed staying on the SUNY New Paltz campus in general. ”
