Uncommon Ground

Audio Engineer

September - December 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

The energy, the team and staff in the restaurant, the smooth communication and the diverse artists I met and worked with through the entire internship.

What I wish was different

I wish some of the artists were more serious about their performances as some of them showed up late or did not show up at all. As for the place, I wish we had better acoustic construction since we did receive a few complaints of noise from the people living above.

Advice

Be nice to people and communicate. Things go best when there is clear communication and good treatment from both parties (engineer/artist).

Booking Assistant Intern

May - August 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I got to create my own lineup and felt like Becca understood what I wanted to gain out of the internship and allowed for me to do exactly what I wanted. She was constantly pushing me to do better, think outside the box, and problem solve. I learned a whole lot and have been able to apply that to the other internship I had over the summer (The Metro) and also my current position at the Student Programming Board as Director of Productions.

What I wish was different

Nothing! This was a great first internship.

Advice

Be ready to go in and work and be motivated!
