Intern

May - August 2019 • Greenville, SC

What I liked

I loved the work environment, staff, and mission of United Ministries. There are honestly so many incredible things I could say about this organization. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming to any new staff/interns. The case managers are committed to respect each individual and to provide the best service they can to whoever walks through the door. As an intern, I never felt like I was there to just do busy work; I felt like I was part of the team.

What I wish was different

I wish they had a better calendar system of who is going where each day for the case managers for interns to choose where they went so we did not miss out on a cool opportunity. I also wish I could have seen what was coming up throughout the month for planning appointments and such.

Advice

I would advise for any potential intern to be ready to do anything within a workday. One morning you could be cleaning out a home for a next family and then go into a county wide presentation on reducing homeless in Greenville. You will hardly be bored.
