I loved the experience I got and how much more competent I felt from the 10 weeks I spent working there. The staff on 9W was very inviting and made me feel very comfortable and supported. I had amazing preceptors in ICU and really enjoyed that type of work.
What I wish was different
Really wanted to try the ED but I know they were already training too many staff at the time.
I wish I could administer medication, thereby providing complete patient care. Not sure how that could be changed though with current laws.
Advice
Chose an area you think you might like but know you won't get to spend a lot of time in through clinicals. Make sure you are doing the bulk of the care and not just riding on the coattails of your preceptor.
