United States Air Force

Mechanical Engineer

June 2018 • Hill Air Force Base, UT

What I liked

Job security, paid gym/workout time, countless oddball benefits such as free family counseling, etc. Schooling benefits are pretty impressive. Lots of people stay there long enough to have their Masters paid for then leave right when they finish it.

What I wish was different

Pay is below average, slow promotions are based on time rather than merit, lots of lazy people get paid much more than those who work much harder.

Advice

Going to the Air Force is better if you have 1+ yrs of post graduation engineering experience already, otherwise they won't consider negotiating starting salaries.
