I liked the professional development opportunities that were offered during the internship. We had "Lunch and Learn" sessions where we covered topics like diversity in the workplace and how to manage tough conversations and conflict. We also were assigned a group project to work on throughout the internship that we presented in the final week which strengthened our skills when it comes to working in a group setting as well as our presentation/public speaking skills.
What I wish was different
I wish I had had more opportunity to connect with the interns in New York. We had two intern groups, one in Orlando and one in New York. We had minimal contact with the New York interns, which I wish had been the opposite so I could expand my professional network.
Advice
Take advantage of one-on-ones with senior leaders during your internship. It is the perfect opportunity to sit down with the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the organization and ask them all of your questions. They truly give you their full attention and it is greatly appreciated. It's also a great way to find mentors who will serve as a great support system when you are job seeking.
