What I liked

I was able to network with multiple professionals and interns in the same career field. I gained real world experience that I will be able to transfer to my full time position.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been in person. This was a virtual internship due to COVID, but I feel like I would have really enjoyed being in the office.

Financial Planning and Analysis Intern

June - August 2020 • Hartford, CT

What I liked

I really enjoyed that the company made the internship virtual as opposed to cancelling. The company really values it's interns and tries to make the experience as good as it can be. I learned a lot and my mentor was so helpful. I was able to seriously improve my excel skills.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to attend more important meetings to understand what was going on more.

Advice

Sales Intern

May - August 2019 • Zionsville, IN

What I liked

I loved how challenging the internship was. Within a week I received my life and health certification in 10 states. Also, I really enjoyed my interactions with the customers and my colleagues.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to shadow other positions. This would have allowed to gain a better understanding of the process and allowed me to see if I liked working in another department better.

Advice

I would recommend that students at Indiana State start looking for internships as soon as the school year begins. This allows you to not feel as if you are scrambling for an internship at the last second.

Producer Help Desk Analyst Intern

June - August 2019 • Minnetonka, MN

What I liked

I liked being able to learn a great amount of information about Medicare and Medicaid. The people I worked with were very friendly and sociable which made the job much more fun as well. Being on the phones, I like talking to a variety of different people and being able to solve agent's problems.

What I wish was different

I wish there would've been a bit more planning as to what the interns were assigned to do. It was communicated at the start of my internship that I would have projects to work on, but it was mostly up to me to find things to do outside of being on the phones.

Advice

This job allowed me to learn so much about the healthcare industry so just my advice is to take it all in and absorb as much information you can because it will aid you in branching out to different departments withing the company.

Sales Performance Intern

June - August 2018 • Minnetonka, MN

Advice

I would say to really take the time during the fall to research companies/position and to prepare a ton for the interviews. And once you are interning be open to learning but also don’t be afraid to share your input on different things.
