I was working in the Teen English Program. I liked the very active, hands-on work that I was doing. I got to work with a lot of teenagers and parents. My favorite part was interacting with many different people from around the world and making their stay here in the U.S. as enjoyable as possible.
What I wish was different
It was only four weeks long. I think if the program had been a week or so longer, the bonds formed among the students would have been stronger and they would have gotten more out of the experience.
Advice
Do not take Summer courses or work at other part-time jobs while working in the Teen English Program. You will only have a couple of hours to yourself each day, and this time should be reserved for running errands, planning for future activities, or responding to unforeseen circumstances with the teens (e.g., an illness or injury).
