What I liked

It was awesome to work downtown in the hub

What I wish was different

The group I interned with was in a very unstable situation. They were restructuring the program as well as physically moving locations during the internship, on top every support staff member taking at least 3 consecutive days of vacation once at different times during the internship. The interns were often left to our own devices with little guidance about what it was that we were even supposed to accomplish, then told we were not meeting expectations. Should someone else take this job, I hope the leaders of this organization are in a more stable place and can dedicate more time and resources to assisting the interns in their work as well as giving clearer goals from week to week.

Advice

Never be afraid to reach out for help, and also don't be afraid to ask 1001 clarifying questions. Better to be slightly annoying than to drown without the help.

I wish the objectives were different, and more technology focused.

Advice

What I liked

I had the opportunity to work on a team of interdisciplinary UD students to tackle 6 real-world challenges given to us by 4 clients in the Dayton area, and we worked to come up with culture-changing deliverables---some of which, have already begun being implemented. It was challenging and caused me to rework my thought processes, especially when it comes to problem solving.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship had been longer! I built a lot of good relationships and enjoyed the challenges we got to work on together.

Advice

Be prepared to see things differently!
