This job has been not only enjoyable and flexible with my school schedule, but also valuable to my future career and areas I have needed to grow. I have grown in my ability to advocate for others, speak to students and professors, and my knowledge in adaptable technology.

What I wish was different

I would not change anything about this job.

Advice

Student Assistant

March 2021 • Arlington, TX

What I liked

The supervisors are all extremely helpful and supportive.

What I wish was different

Since it's a student position, hours are limited to 19 and there isn't a ton of room for vertical movement since it's assumed student assistants will be rotating out rather frequently and therefore can't be considered full-time staff.

Advice

You get to meet a lot of interesting people and learn about disabilities that people have and how to accommodate their needs. Understanding and patience are both paramount.
