UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF LABORATORY MEDICINE AND PATHOLOGY

Undergraduate Researcher

March 2016 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

As an undergraduate I am given a high level of responsibility and independence that has allowed me to not only explore my own scientific interests but grow as a researcher and professional in the workplace. The people and the work environment they create is also highly motivating and supportive.

What I wish was different

I wish I had taken advantage of the resources and knowledge around me more quickly. I was initially timid when working with other researchers but have found that asking questions and reaching out for collaboration is more efficient and effective when performing research and or any task.

Advice

It's important to gain real experience in something you're potentially going to pursue so take advantage of any opportunity you have to learn and experience more.
