Vermont Foodbank

Food Access and Gleaning Intern

July 2020 • Burlington, VT

What I liked

I loved the team I worked with and experiencing all the different farms. It was also such a good feeling knowing that everything I was doing in gleaning was helping the farmers and people around Chittenden County who lack the resources to afford healthy, local food. So many of the people I met during this internship, whether they were Foodbank staff, interns, volunteers, or Foodbank partner organizations, were some of the nicest people I've ever met. The community members I was able to serve were also extremely grateful for what the Foodbank does and excited about the free, fresh and local produce. It has just been such an incredible experience.

What I wish was different

It would be nice if this internship were paid! But there was a steady supply of veggies that I could take home which was a nice perk.
