Virginia Amateur Sports Inc. (VAS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Roanoke. VAS is governed by a board of directors made up of twenty two members from localities across the state.
The VAS mission statement is: To promote awareness and benefits of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles through sports education, training & competition.
VAS directs more than 10 events throughout the year, including the Virginia Commonwealth Games at Liberty University, the largest multi-sport festival held in Virginia each year.

Going into its 34th year, this annual event is held in July (for most sports.) This multi-sport festival is supported by a grassroots volunteer network, businesses and governments of the Lynchburg Area. The Games have an estimated $2.5 million economic impact on the area. Attracting more than 270,000 athletes, their families plus spectators during the past 33 years, this competition features nearly 40 individual & team sports including basketball, softball, archery, swimming, and more. The Games are open to all ages and skill levels for any resident in Virginia and surrounding states without a State Games.
