Pharmacy Technician

August 2020 • Columbia, SC

What I liked

I like how accommodating my managers were with my schedule because I am a full time student that not only works 20 hours a week, but I also volunteer and participate in numerous extracurriculars. They understand that college is busy and works with me to figure the best schedule for everyone.

What I wish was different

I wish I hadn't taken on so many hours at first because my grades started to dip towards the end of the semester.

Advice

My advice is to start looking early so that way once companies start to offer you positions, you can pick and choose the best choice for you and your workload.

Certified Pharmacy Technician

September 2019 • Arlington Heights, IL

What I liked

Great staff, great hours, work feels meaningful specifically for my position, room for job growth, work in the medical field, and good pay for the job description after certification.

What I wish was different

Nothing really, I still enjoy my job to this day and I look forward to going home and working with my coworkers again. They provide the flexibility to come back and work on long weekends and over breaks which is great for me being away at school.

Advice

It takes a bunch of brain power, a ton of patience, and energy to complete your shifts. If you don't feel like you can provide consistent energy, empathy, and enthusiasm for conversation with patients throughout the length of a shift then I would not suggest this job for you. This job can be stressful at times and very fast paced but it is one of the few jobs that I have found that is considered to be in the medical field that I can work before I get my college degree as well as where I can go home feeling satisfied that I am doing my part and helping peoples lives.
