I liked how I was to reach my team leaders easily via the app or them coming around to check up on me.

What I wish was different

I wish the online training had been done all at once instead of being spread out through a month.

Advice

If you’re going to work front end please have some tough skin the customers can and will call you several inappropriate names.

What I liked

I appreciated the ability to do self-driven work, go home during my lunch breaks, and be somewhat flexible with when I took my breaks.

What I wish was different

I wish that it was simpler to find my supervisor. Generally, I could visit the management office to ask someone to contact her, but sometimes the office was empty.

Advice

When stocking returned and "re-shop" items, you may be walking around the store for several hours with limited breaks. It's important to wear comfortable shoes, and you may benefit from buying insoles.

Software Engineering Intern

What I liked

I enjoyed my team, and the culture around working together and solving problems. I also enjoyed how I was able to see my project being used at the end of my internship. There was also a good work life balance, and I was able to explore an area of the country I had never been to before.

What I wish was different

While I generally enjoyed the Bentonville area, I did miss the culture from Michigan. I also felt that while my project had an impact on the company, perhaps it could have been slightly more fulfilling.

Advice

I would advise future interns to actively participate in the company culture and try and spend time with your team outside of work. This is a large reason why I enjoyed the internship overall, and I believe this type of interaction is important to the company as a whole. I found that I was able to grow not only in work experience and professionalism, but also personally.

What I liked

The connectivity and friendliness. Everyone wanted to be friends. There was an honor system between employees that we would help each other out regardless of the circumstance.

What I wish was different

I wish favoritism was cut out. There were people there who deserved and needed the manager position however they never got their opportunity. It actually would cost the front end staff productivity because the people made managers would not be able to handle peak hours.

Advice

Go to work and integrally complete your work and you'll have zero problems . Don't involve yourself with drama because lots of drama exist in a lower class service job. Treat jobs like this as a stepping stone not a career.
