What I liked

The people I made friends with and talked to some of the customers. I also got an employee discount card.

What I wish was different

The way that they would respect their employees' schedules. Also, they would let people wear leggings and not point them out when just one person wears them in front of their higher-ups.

Make sure that you're ready to work in retail.

I love working at Walmart and being a retail stock Associate there but it’s not something I want to do my whole life. I want a better job after I graduate from SC State.

Software Engineer Intern

What I liked

The company invested a lot of time and energy into supporting the interns' relocation and planning various intern events throughout the summer. The team that I was assigned to correlated to my strengths, and I believe that this helped me experience what it was like to work in a team while becoming a competent member of the company.

What I wish was different

The location was the only downside, but it was a lot better than I expected.

Advice

I'd say to socialize with other interns and team members whenever you get the chance. These connections go a long way, and you never know if you find friends or mentors along the way!
