Our Mission
Wanigas Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative dedicated to providing a full range of quality financial products and services that meet the ever-changing needs of our membership.
How It All Began
We started out as the Saginaw Gun Plant Employees Federal Credit Union back in 1952 by a group of Saginaw Division Plant 2 employees. Four years later, in 1956, we merged with the Saginaw Steering Gear Division Federal Credit Union of Plant 1, becoming Wanigas Federal Credit Union. In case you were wondering, Wanigas is Saginaw spelled backwards.
Wanigas Credit Union Today
Today we have almost 26,000 members and over $376 million in assets. In 2005, we became a community charter credit union. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school or has a business or other legal entity in any county located in the State of Michigan's Lower Peninsula.
As our membership and assets grow over the years, so does our ability to offer more valuable products and services to our members. And since Wanigas Credit Union is a cooperative, our members not only receive fantastic service and useful financial services, but they get all of this at a lower cost. This is why we can say: Together, we represent a very valuable financial resource.
