Software Development Intern

June - October 2018 • Bedford, MA

What I liked

Learned a lot about software test and automation framework. It was also nice to work with different version control and agile technologies than school.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a dedicated project, but working essentially as a full time employee was also an enriching experience Also, the work environment is slow, but I think that's the nature of this industry.

Advice

Focus on learning what you can and ask a lot of questions!

Quality Assurance Intern

May - August 2020 • Bedford, MA

What I liked

There was a lot of educational resources about the company, their products, and their impact. I was invited to attend a variety of meetings that included different departments so that I could get an understand of how the Quality Assurance department fit into the larger scheme of the company.

What I wish was different

I was a remote intern and did not often have enough work to fill my day. I was often stressed about not contributing to the team enough, though there was not much more work available for me.

Advice

Don't be afraid to reach out and ask for new projects, or interactions with other departments.

Mechanical Engineering Intern

May - August 2017 • Bedford, MA

What I liked

Very supportive, collaborative, and motivating environment. Everyone genuinely was interested in helping out the interns and getting them involved with projects. Collaborated both with other interns and full time staff. Encouraged to try out all ideas, use with 3D printing, machining, instron, and other equipment and technology. Given much freedom with projects.

What I wish was different

Sometimes the incoming project work was slow if they were waiting on documentation, etc., but you could always find something to do.

Advice

If you're interested in any project someone is working on and want to learn more, don't hesitate to ask - people will willingly explain to your their project and you may be able to help out with it as will. This internship is what you make of it, find something you're interested in there and try to work on it.
