Advice

To anyone working at Westwood I would say, have fun, ask questions, and get involved. Westwood is filled with great people and opportunities to volunteer and hang out outside of work, and taking advantage of those opportunities definitely gave me the most well rounded and rewarding experience.

Geotechnical/Structural Intern

June - August 2019 • Minnetonka, MN

What I liked

I loved the people at the company. Everyone was welcoming and my supervisors were more than willing to help me if I had a problem! I felt like I gained useful knowledge that I was able to apply to my classes when it came to starting school again.

What I wish was different

Honestly, nothing. The internship was valuable in the experiences it offered. If anything, I wish I would've gotten more involved in the professional development and social group opportunities that the company offers!

Advice

Communication is key! As much as it is overused, the phrase holds a lot of truth. Whether it is communicating to your supervisor that you are struggling with an assignment an need guidance, you're wondering how much time you should be spending on a project, or whether you are wondering if you can have the opportunity to work in an area of the company that interests you, communicating those things to your supervisor will help you out in the long run!
