Camp Counselor

What I liked

I loved being able to work with kids and being outside because those are two things that I really enjoy. Being paid for these things made my experience even better for me.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have had some more experience working with younger children. For most of the duration of the summer, I was working with children who were in grades 4-7. However, during the final two weeks of the camp, I worked with children from kindergarten age to 7th grade.

Advice

Be prepared to have your focus "on" all day. When you are working with children, you have to be constantly attentive because many of them have not learned right from wrong and are still very prone to injuries or getting into fights. You are in charge of them, which is a major responsibility, so you have to be focused and ready at all times.
