Firm Culture
Although the daily practice of our company culture comes naturally to us, we’ve worked very hard to implement and maintain a unique culture that is seldom found in the accounting industry.

Simply put, our culture is based on people, and is exhibited through the respect, encouragement, and courtesy that we share. We want to help people be the best they can be and achieve all that they desire. Therefore, we combine emotional investment with intellectual capital, along with the opportunities our firm has to offer, to ensure that our employees achieve success both on a personal and a professional level. Our oath to professional ethics is the foundation for everything we do. From the way we serve our clients, to the manner in which we run our company, our affairs are conducted with the utmost virtue.

We learn, innovate, and succeed by sharing knowledge, embracing diversity, and working together. We promote a healthy, non-stressful work environment. We know that too much work is counterproductive, so we encourage our professionals to achieve a work/life balance that is conducive to personal and professional goals. We frequently engage in company activities, and we support community involvement. Time away from work to be with family is never discouraged. Balancing work and life is a challenge in any career, but our culture helps us make sure we keep our priorities straight.

About our Internship Program:
Our internship program is designed to give you the opportunity to work in a public accounting firm and to give you a true experience of what day to day responsibilities for Associate level professionals are while working with all levels of management throughout the firm. Our goal is not only for you to learn valuable skills throughout your internship, but also to convert all interns to Associate hires after their internship is completed.

Our interns have the opportunity to learn, innovate and succeed by sharing knowledge all while working together and embracing diversity in the workplace. Our culture is centered on promoting a healthy work environment and we encourage our interns to grow in both their professional and personal development skills.

Interns are provided a mentor throughout the entirety of their internship as they begin to build their brand in the workplace. Interns also go through our professional development program, called DEVELOP at WP, which is our intern development program created to educate and encourage interns as they cultivate relationships and grow in their professional development skills.
The goal of the DEVELOP program is to:

• Provide opportunities to expand in your leadership skills
• Network with peers
• Engage with firm leaders

There are countless other ways for interns to stay involved, some of which include: attend lunch ‘n learns, participate in the firm’s wellness program FitWhit and volunteer and ask to be on committees to name a few. We believe our interns have the opportunity to set themselves up for a life-long career at Whitley Penn and we are ready to be with you every step of the way as you discover your potential.
