Williams Sonoma

Sales Associate

November 2020 - August 2021 • San Diego, CA

What I liked

I loved getting the opportunity to help people find thoughtful gifts for loved ones or put finishing touches on new homes.

What I wish was different

I wish I had not have had to deal with the pandemic in addition to the job as that tended to make people more irritable.

Advice

People will be mean and call you stupid when things don't go their way. Just let it roll off your back; it isn't personal.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

May - July 2019 • Claremont, NC

What I liked

They have an excellent internship program, and as a result I learned a lot and had a great experience here. Although we given a freedom to chose our projects and work on them on our own, there was still a good amount of structure and guidance. There was a big turnout for our final presentations, which showed me that people really cared about our projects and experiences.

What I wish was different

Advice

There is a structured schedule and format for the projects, and I recommend you follow it closely. Try to quantify the benefit of your project in a way that anyone can understand - money or time saved, defects prevented, etc. Having a numerical result will make the presentation a lot easier. You will have time to take on side projects but make sure you stay on top of your main one. The end of the internship will sneak up on you if you don't manage your time.
