Technical Specialist

June 2019 • Boise, ID

What I liked

It was the perfect job!! Flexible hours, incredible hourly pay, overall just an amazing experience.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more verticality in the workplace and also more room to pivot between specialities.

Advice

Ask and you will receive! I was offered $15/hour but I countered and received an offer for $18.25! Always ask for what you believe you’re worth, you never know what’s out there.

GPU Design Intern

May - August 2018 • Austin, TX

What I liked

The company and the work.

What I wish was different

Not much, was pretty perfect as an internship.

Advice

Be curious, ask questions, work hard. An internship is what you make of it, so maximize the experience by learning and taking in as much as you can.

What I liked

Apple gives you a great opportunity to network with those in the community. It’s a great resume builder and also you work alongside people whom wanna better themselves through education.

What I wish was different

Networked more while I was in school, but it was harder being on a commuter campus such as PSU and balancing a job with school.

Advice

Be open to feedback, receiving and giving feedback in the moment may be painful but it’s a good pain that helps you grow.

What I liked

I love the flexibility and salary for our position! They teach you everything you need to know and they make you want to do your job and do it well!

What I wish was different

I wish I had started with the company earlier!

Advice

You have to be consistent and on your “A” game, sell yourself to the company! They will teach you everything you know, you just have to be a good person!

Customer Support Advisor

February 2019 • Eugene, OR

What I liked

I love that the job is catered towards college students. This way, the hours work around your class schedule, increase during summer and other breaks, and adapt to tests.

What I wish was different

I wish the onboard training schedule was more lenient.

Advice

Go for jobs in companies you may not have adequate experience for. Many roles for college students understand that we all come from different backgrounds and can adapt to our qualifications.

At-Home Advisor

March - June 2018 • Lilburn, GA

What I liked

I liked how I get to work at home. The schedule was pretty flexible to my school schedule. The coworkers were all very nice and cooperative.

What I wish was different

Training needs to be more detailed and intense.

Advice

If you can't handle people yelling at you through the phone, this is not the job for you. You would need to be already experience with ios devices to get through the job, they don't train enough for certain situations and troubleshooting.

What I liked

I liked the people I worked with. They were always kind and very encouraging!

What I wish was different

The work schedule was tiresome, and the customers helped were more often than not abrasive or angry. This made working there for an extended period of time hard, because the customers were frankly not kind.

What I liked

The environment is really fun, it’s laid back and relaxed. The staff is awesome, we’re like a family. Everyone helps each other succeed which makes asking questions and getting help easy.

What I wish was different

That I was able to find a job right out of college, it took me a while to find a job, which I thought was very strange since I have a bachelors degree come from a renowned university.

Advice

Even if you don’t succeed the first few time don’t give up and opportunity might be just around the corner! Look outside your comfort zone and be excited to start new things.
