What I wish was different

The work schedule was tiresome, and the customers helped were more often than not abrasive or angry. This made working there for an extended period of time hard, because the customers were frankly not kind.

I liked how I get to work at home. The schedule was pretty flexible to my school schedule. The coworkers were all very nice and cooperative.

What I wish was different

Advice

If you can't handle people yelling at you through the phone, this is not the job for you. You would need to be already experience with ios devices to get through the job, they don't train enough for certain situations and troubleshooting.

Technical advisor

March - August 2018 • Orlando, FL

What I liked

It was nice working from home and they make sure to work around your school schedule.

What I wish was different

You took calls all day so it got tiring having people in your ear talking about their issues all day, maybe more time in between calls. And a lot of times issues required transferring or consulting another group but they often didn’t want to help you so it felt as if you were on your own.

Advice

It takes a lot of commitment, each semester you get your schedule and you follow the exact schedule until the next semester so make sure you’re okay with that and do the free training whenever available to build upon your knowledge.

What I liked

Getting to learn about how people use technology & the company's products to connect with their hobbies and their loved ones. Those I worked with were incredibly talented and open-minded individuals.

What I wish was different

The culture of retail in the U.S. is dominated by a mentality of entitlement and it made for really uncomfortable and antagonistic situations at times from customers.

Advice

Try not to take work home with you in these cases: focus on how you bring your authentic self to the table and what you can showcase about products.

AppleCare At-Home Advisor (College Program)

June 2015 - July 2016 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

- flexibility to work around being a student; manager will always work with your class schedule - amazing benefits, unheard of for a part-time job (tuition reimbursement, product discounts, 401K match, employee stock purchase plan, fitness reimbursement, PTO, etc.)

What I wish was different

- the role in and of itself was very rigid and the standards are high - never being able to meet in person with your manager is difficult to build rapport

Advice

- really leverage the 3-months of full-time training - think about if your personality and work style fit the role
