Boonslick Heartland YMCA

About Boonslick Heartland YMCA

"What does YMCA stand for?"
YMCA stands for Young Men's Christian Association. Originally founded in London in 1844, the YMCA was created to be a safe haven for young farmers migrating to the city to find work; a refuge of bible study and prayer for young men looking to escape from the hazards of life on the streets.
"What is the YMCA?"
That's a simple question with a simple answer: community. The YMCA today is a Christian community outreach, development and betterment organization whose goal is nothing more than to help improve the communities that it serves.
"What is the Y's Mission?"
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

“I enjoyed working the YMCA staff and seeing all the hard work and dedication they put in to their work. I enjoyed being able to teach a fitness class and being hands on in the business/office side of sports management. ”
