About BYM Camps - Teen Adventure Quaker Camp

Teen Adventure is a spiritual growth and leadership training program for young people ages 15-17. Campers go on three-week wilderness trips that include hiking, canoeing, rock-climbing, farming, art activities, and community service. Trips are based out of Lexington, VA.

Teen Adventure is part of a larger family of four summer camps spread along the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia and Maryland run by Baltimore Yearly Meeting, a regional organization of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). People from all religious backgrounds and identities participate in Teen Adventure.

Their focus on personal growth for teens through outdoor experiences, community based volunteering, and group decision making really showed me how much teens can learn and grow from those experiences. I also loved the autonomy I had in my work environment, where I primarily planned our trips and decided how the camp would run in group discussions and decisions. ”
