Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Sales Management Trainee Intern

May - August 2018 • Arlington, TX

What I liked

The entire staff from top to bottom were very friendly and made the work atmosphere fun and competitive. You're competing against about 30 other interns across the metroplex on a sales matrix and the top competitors win prizes (money, gift cards, scholarship) at the end of the summer. More so, I liked the actual hands on experience of being in a real job attempting to sell things to unwilling customers for the most part and being successful.

What I wish was different

The only thing I wish had been different is the scheduling being unequal between interns at different locations thus giving a few an unfair advantage in a sense. Different branches needed more time from interns than others so a few interns could work 50 hrs a week vs some working 38-42.

Advice

One piece of advice I'd share is to embrace the experience and make the most of it. Connect with everyone possible because they will still help you even if Enterprise isn't your ultimate career path.

May - August 2019 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

The training that they offered me to fully immerse me in the rental car business was amazing. I got to experience everything that a normal Management Trainee does but in a condensed time frame. I learned so much about the rental car business and also got experience in sales and marketing. I grew my customer service skills as well and made amazing life long relationships with my coworkers! Everyone there supported me through every challenge I came across and taught me life long skills that I can use in my future!

What I wish was different

I wish that the internship was longer so that I could have learned even more.

Advice

This experience was truly amazing and pushed me out of my comfort zone and I did not expect to grow this much professionally within a 3 month time frame. Truly an AMAZING company to work for!

Sales Management Trainee Intern

May - July 2019 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

The amount of experience I was able to gain in 10 weeks with Enterprise was amazing. Once you get through your initial training seminars at the corporate office, you are treated like any other employee at the company with the same responsibility and expectations as someone who has had the MT title for 6 months. With that said, this internship is not for everyone. But if you're ready to step up for yourself and make a statement in a big-time company, an internship with Enterprise can give you that opportunity and absolutely set you apart from your peers.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have been exposed to the other sectors of Enterprise more than just the Daily Rental sector. I understand that everyone needs to start there to get an understanding of the company foundation, but it would've beneficial to shadow people in other areas. My team project allowed me to learn about their Fleet Management sector, but I would've enjoyed learning about the others as well.

Advice

While working in the sales and customer service industry, you have understand you'll hear "no" a lot. You have to be mentally strong to keep pushing forward even though you're hearing "no" more than "yes." Other than that, please don't be afraid to ask questions. Enterprise loves to promote from within, so just about everyone in your branch started as an intern. They have all been in your shoes before and love to help you with any questions you may have. It's when you shy away from asking questions that you'll get yourself in a hole.

Sales Intern

May - August 2019 • Newburyport, MA

What I liked

I loved the training I obtained through this internship. We had a two day training in Woburn where a hotel room was provided which was very impressive and felt very professional. I felt as though this was a perfect internship to begin the transition into the business field. The program expects a lot out of you but because of this you can rise to the occasion and grow as an employee. I gained a lot of confidence in my abilities and customer service skills. One of my main job responsibilities was to drive to customers' homes or body shops to then drive them back to the branch to begin the rental process. At first this was very awkward, but soon I loved it and loved getting to know the customer on a more personal level. This also helped me a lot with my sales because the customer felt more comfortable with me and trusted me more on my opinion on what coverages to put on the rental car.

What I wish was different

I wish the work life balance had been a bit better. I felt as though I had a very minimal summer, working 7 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday left me with only weekends really to do anything for fun. It would have made a huge difference to only work 4 days a week.

Advice

Be prepared to be thrown into the work, you will make mistakes but the more mistakes you make the sooner you will get better and the more you will learn. You will gain amazing customer service experience with a lot of one on one time driving customers or throughout the rental process.
