I enjoyed the independence I had in performing research for my professor on my own time and I thought the work was mostly stimulating and interesting.

I can't think of anything I wish had been different.
Advice
Be straightforward with management about your schedule and the possibility of working remotely! They will be flexible with you if you are direct and work hard.
