The people at H2M truly care about your learning experience. Everyday, I had new tasks to complete and worked on a variety of projects. There was always something to do. Also, everyone was friendly and approachable and would always help if needed.

Work hard and efficiently for all tasks at hand. Be resourceful but don’t be afraid to ask questions when necessary.

Structural Engineering Intern

What I liked
I speak very highly about my internship experience at H2M. I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge that has helped me so far this school year. I assisted project engineers with the design of various structural components using ASCE and AISC design codes and manuals. I shadowed project engineers on site visits to inspect conditions, perform measurements, and monitor certain stages of construction. I also learned how to draft and edit details on Revit, build models on STAAD, and properly use Enercalc to check designs.
What I wish was different
I do wish that I worked more with interns from the various other engineering departments, but that is only a very minor setback.
Advice
Challenge yourself to always learn more and always ask if there is anything that you can work on.

What I liked
The staff was absolutely wonderful! Unique opportunity to give end of internship presentation in front of senior level employees. Very learning and community oriented.
