Small Animal Adventure Attendant
June - August 2019 • Varysburg, NY
What I liked
I loved being able to take care of the animals at the park, getting to know how they interacted and what their everyday care was like. Being able to see the younger children who may not have the opportunity to see these animals was also very fun to watch!
What I wish was different
I wish I had been given more of a variety in my job, although it was always busy at the park, I was not given the opportunity to give a park tour or a small presentation on the animals to the guests.
Advice
I would say to make sure you’re comfortable where you are working - proper attire can make
it much more comfortable than it may seem! Also asking lots of questions, even if they seem dumb, so you can learn as you go. I had to train someone on my second day of work and I was able to use my own personal experiences and match them with the questions I asked during my training of the previous day to help guide us both through a successful work day.
