Jazz Crawl Productions is a fantastic organization with a wonderful message about spreading the incredible culture of New Orleans and jazz to the world. My mentor Rick Tringali was very nice and was always willing to help and answer questions, no matter how small. I enjoyed working with the communications team and creating social media posts for JCP. That collaboration instilled a really nice sense of teamwork that can only be felt in the professional field. For an entirely remote position, Rick organizes thousands of files very cleanly and purposefully for the sake of avoiding confusion, which I greatly appreciated.
What I wish was different
Rick usually has supervisory assistants on the team to help with onboarding/tutorial questions and task reviews, however the summer had a turnover in that role leaving only Rick to handle a vast majority of tasks in addition to accomidating over 20 newcomers. This meant everyone must rely on automated learning systems and self-motivation/accountability, which at times was difficult. I wished there were more supervisory assistants for the sake of quicker movement.
Advice
Be as accountable for yourself as you can. While you are working with many people, it is still a remote position where you need to keep yourself on track and complete personal tasks.
