Cashier

What I liked

Interacting with people and that the job was relatively easy didn’t require any knowledge or skills I didn’t already have. Kroger also had a strong family environment which I loved

What I wish was different

Clicklist Assitant

August 2015 - October 2019 • Sugar Hill, GA

What I liked

I honestly like the people the most. I was friends with many of my associates and customers. I have many great memories there such as laughs with customers and the time I got to spend with people I worked with. I honestly miss the job very much and I hope to experience the same thing elsewhere.

What I wish was different

As much as I enjoyed working with people I honestly did not like working there in general. While there I was always left to get work done without any help from management or corporate. We experienced many dissatisfied customers and I was always yelled at for something I could not control. I ran the department at night by myself and was never given the pay for taking on the lead position. I worked there full time and had class everyday but whenever I got home at night I was always too tired to do homework. I honestly wished that they would change their ways, but I could not keep putting my body through such work, never getting a break, sometimes working more than 8 hours a day, and constantly being ignored and left to do everything on my own. I have since left although I currently struggle with money and paying my bills I stayed as long as I could until one day I could not do it anymore. Another thing I wish could have also been different was their lack of making the money you deserve for all the work you do.

Advice

Start your own business for your own sanity. Start now and don't stop until you are making the money that will sustain you. I have been told this by my parents many times and they still give me that same advice today, but as we all know teenagers don't listen and it has caused me to pause my freelance business, fail some classes, and have very bad back pains that won't go away. I did it for the money and I could have been doing what I love and could have generated way more income. So please do yourself a favor and do your own thing, watch how fast you grow, be that person you want to be and not what someone else wants. Be your OWN boss and just stay strong!!

What I wish was different
