What I liked

I liked how my job allowed me to stay active while shopping around the store for the online customers. The pay was decent for a summer job and the hiring process was fairly smooth with paid training.

What I wish was different

They were severely understaffed and did not take into account my availability.

Advice

Working at Kroger taught me how to work through adversity and strengthened my work ethic. It helped me realize that I wanted to pursue a college degree and work in a job without physical labor.

What I liked

Easy way to make money over the summer. Meet with wonderful staff, willing to help you every step of the way.

What I wish was different

I wish I had spent more time at the register. There was always an opportunity to do other projects such as advertisement or helping with grocery, and I always too it. I never really worked up front for the entire time I was employed. I was everywhere!

Cashier

June 2015 • Suwanee, GA

What I liked

There's opportunity to move up in the store, and there's a lot of customer engagement which can help you find opportunities for other things outside of your job. For example, I met one of the service workers at a car dealership that services my car and now I get discounts on services at that car dealership.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more communication between managers of different departments and the head manager. Sometimes I was told one thing about a task by one manager and another manager would tell me something completely different.

Advice

Talk to you department managers ahead of time if you need a schedule change, and remind them. And use the online scheduling system as well.

What I liked

The store was very convenient for me, as it was only a five minute drive from my house. I also had a good relationship with my management and co-workers.

What I wish was different

I had to work until midnight several times per week, which was not ideal.

Advice

I think not helped a lot that I built a strong relationship with my managers and supervisors, so I would recommend that to anyone looking to work in a similar position.
