Spending Fridays doing outdoor supervision which entails observing what spaces of the park are being used. While taking some time to be a welcoming presence outside each hour, one can also read, draw, bird watch, and stroll the grounds.
What I wish was different
It was a bit intimidating sometimes to find oneself in positions of customer service interaction and not be as knowledgeable about how to do a transaction or schedule a reservation as would be preferable. Even so, it was good to practice being flexible and adaptive.
Advice
Don't be afraid to get to know your co-workers--you can either choose to keep to yourself or to chat with them each day and receive insight and advice. Also, aim to greet park visitors as they will often remember your kindness.

I liked being outside everyday and working with people my age from all over Minneapolis that I would have not met without this job.

I wish that things were more organized at the beginning of the season because I was overwhelmed with scheduling everyone because the website we used was not organized well.
Advice
Do not come in everyday with expectations on how the day will go because each day has a new surprise and challenge that works better without expectations.
