Nothing, to be honest.

Manufacturing Operations Intern

June - August 2017 • Killingly, CT

What I liked

The internship offers an opportunity to work on real-world problems. It is very hands on and teaches interns how to be great critical thinkers, project managers and how to collaborate with various cross-functional teams. There are also a lot of activities outside of work to help the interns in understanding the business better and networking with other people.

What I wish was different

It is only 2 months, I wish that it could have been longer.

Advice

Immerse yourself in the company and use every resources available. Take initiative on your project and go out of your cubicle and meet people because they are all very friendly.

Quality Control Intern

May - August 2017 • Albany, NY

What I liked

I was exposed to an industry and a division within a company I never pictured I would be in. I also was able to network with plant, district and regional managers, which helps set me up for a return to the company after graduation.

What I wish was different

I wish I had started earlier, right after school ended because I would have been able to learn and accomplish more than I had already did.

Advice

Network and talk with everyone, you never know what you can learn.

Supply Chain Intern

June - August 2017 • Killingly, CT

What I liked

It was very hands on. They allowed us to walk the floor of the plant on our own and really get a feel for our projects. We had the opportunity to be independent and learn on our own, but were able to ask for guidance if we felt like we needed it. They made us feel as much a part of the Frito-family as people who had been there for decades. The managers and front line team members were knowledgeable and willing to help. If they didn't know the answer to a question, they could point you in the direction of somebody else to ask. The HR leaders ensured that all of us were prepared for final presentations. We had a presentation every week to practice, and we were able to get feedback from different people at each one. We had the opportunity to shadow a supply chain leader--the role we would be hired into if given a full time offer. It was a good experience to see what we would actually be doing day-to-day if we were hired. We had flexible hours--as long as we were hitting our 40 hours a week we could schedule our hours how we wanted. With Frito-Lay being a 24 hour business, this meant we could work off-shifts as well to get a better feel for what the plant is like not on 1st shift.

What I wish was different

I thought the entire experience was great.

Advice

You might feel like you're unprepared when you start your project, but that is normal and you have more time than you think to figure it out.

Sales Management Intern

June - August 2017 • Reno, NV

What I liked

Being able to shadow different managers in the beginning of my internship allowed me to learn the business cold. While I worked at a smaller facility, there was a sense of family environment and support amongst managers. The final intern report out where all the California/Nevada region interns gather and present on their project was eye opening. From this experience, I grew a lot personally and increased my confidence.

What I wish was different

Having multiple projects laid out before the start of the internship would have been beneficial. There were days when there was a lot of downtime with not much to do.

Advice

Go into your internship with an open mind. Be willing to learn new things and ask for help when you need to. B
