Sherwin Williams

Sales and Management Intern

June - September 2023 • Bend, OR

What I liked

I loved my coworkers and how helpful they were. They taught me so much about the company and how to do my job best. Sherwin is also very kind to their employees and have many benefits. It is a great company to work for.

What I wish was different

I think the organization could have been a little better. The internship priorities were kinda random and were hard to follow. Random meetings would pop up that I didn't know about, and I had another job so it was hard when I wasn't given a time range.

Advice

Just ask as many questions as you can as an intern, and your coworkers will help, and you'll learn fast if you are just present and ask questions.

Sales and Management Internship

June - August 2021 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

Everyone is so helpful whether you wanted to continue with them in the future or not. It is a mix of structured work and unstructured allowing you to gain skills and explore for yourself about the field. There were also a lot of fun opportunities to network like Phillies games, field days, and other events.

What I wish was different

There are other interns all over the country at the same time as me and I wish I would've been able to connect more with them. There is also an internship project where you need to meet with others in your area and I wish they had scheduled that time out so it worked with all of the interns and manager's schedules.

Advice

Everything you put in, you get out of the internship so be sure to take advantage of everything they have to offer.

Retail Associate

July 2018 • Provo, UT

What I liked

My coworkers are great and the work schedule has been the most consistent I have ever had at a job.

What I wish was different

I am not sure what has caused it, but the training situation at Sherwin Williams is kind of slow if you get on in the summer as not an intern.

Advice

Ask a lot of questions. Don't assume you know how the paint or system works.

Stores General Accounting Co-op

October 2018 • Cleveland, OH

What I liked

Great experience at a Fortune 200 company that allowed me to do real work while going to school. Flexible hours and laid back coworkers made work fun and allowed me to complete work at a comfortable steady pace. Experience I learned in this role have helped me land a full-time audit position in the company. Lots of opportunity, and your network within the company grows very quickly.

What I wish was different

Not much. I wish I could have taken on some bigger projects, but still a very good workload/ project load.

Advice

Great experience for someone attending Cleveland State. It is very convenient to be able to work at Sherwin Williams and then come back to class. A perfect way to earn professional experience and attend school at the same time.

marketing and sales intern

May - August 2019 • Louisville, KY

What I liked

What I enjoyed most about my internship with Sherwin Williams was the amount of support and training I received from not only my manager but sales reps, sales VP, regional manager and many others. I felt i was given different views from and role from any prospectives within the company.

What I wish was different

I do wish that I spend more time outside the district store. A lot of my time was spend physically making and selling paint. I would have like to work more with Sales reps and in the district office.

Advice

One piece of advice i would share about my experience is to ask as many questions as you can about the position or internship. It will give you the best idea to reflect what you are walking into and if you think will be a good fit!

Management and Sales Intern

June - August 2018 • Green Bay, WI

What I liked

In this internship you are introduced to a new way of looking at paint. As an intern, you shadow the managers and learn the systems and sales process of the business, as well as, make cold calls, warm calls and even set up some in store events. You also have the opportunity to go on multiple ride a longs with the Sherwin Williams sales representatives and meet with clients at the store, on the job site or even for lunch. You also team up with the other interns within your district to work on a project that will be presented at a conference at the end of the summer experience. I really enjoy the culture of the company. They are very welcoming and the manager, assistant manager and sales representatives are always willing to help or answer any questions.

What I wish was different

There is nothing I would change about their internship program.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask questions, the managers are there to help you and they want you to succeed.
