Engineering COOP

May 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

I enjoy the structure of the Strattec COOP program. It has allowed me to see multiple aspects of practical engineering and take my hands on knowledge into the workforce. While a 4 term COOP program isn't common, the extra experience you will gain is immeasurable.

What I wish was different

Advice

Be willing to try new things and explore the multiple aspects of engineering. Each term has its own learning curve, but the result is a well rounded engineering student.

Engineering Co-op

August 2017 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

The program is rotational by design. Every term you are placed into a different department, so by the time you finish, you will have seen a little bit of everything that Strattec (and frankly manufacturing in general) has to offer. Your final term is your choice. Most people go back to one of their previous terms because it was their favorite, but others I've known have gone down a business route such as program management or technical sales. A top-tier co-op program.

What I wish was different

Advice

Unless you know exactly what you want to do after graduation, the rotational program at Strattec will benefit you immensely. I've met plenty of people in my time at this company that were former co-ops and many have found a different area of interest (manufacturing, product design, quality, etc.) going through the program than they had started at.

Supply Chain Intern

May 2019 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

Overall the opportunity has been a great experience! It makes the things I've learned in school come to life and gives me some real world application. It's great being surrounded by people willing to help further your learning experience and guide you in the direction of a future career path.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more supply chain courses under my belt before beginning my internship but that isn't something to feel discouraged about because whatever I didn't entirely understand was taught to me on the job.

Advice

Internships in general are a great way to give you some clarity as to what direction you might want to go once you graduate, and it's fun to really see how all the work you put into school begins to apply to the real world setting.

Engineering Co-op

August 2018 • Milwaukee, WI

What I liked

It gives me an opportunity to experience different departments of engineering. With this being a 4 term co-op, I am able to have 4 different experiences by the time I'm done. So far, I've worked in a test lab and now I'm in the Quality department

What I wish was different

At this point, I really like this opportunity, so I don't have anything

Advice

Come with an open mind to learn different applications to what you might already know
