I learned a new programming language, python, and significantly improved my programming skills. I also applied the knowledge I learned in my classes in a research environment.
What I wish was different
I wish I had time to complete my project, as the summer term ended before the proejct was finished.
Advice
I would say to know what skills you need for your research job and what skills you can learn after you get the job.

What I liked
I liked that I had the opportunity to gain research experience in the field. Also I liked working with wild mice and learning about invasive species.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had a more consistent schedule over the summer but animal trapping requires a flexible schedule.
Advice
One piece of advice I have about this experience is to be patient with field work because things don't always go as planned when you're conducting research in the field.
