Before high school graduation, every student should understand the basic principles of how government works and how to participate fully in our democracy.
The Civics Center is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to building the foundations of youth civic engagement and voter participation in high schools through education, research, advocacy, and organizing. Our efforts primarily focus on direct outreach to high school communities around the U.S. We provide tools and support aimed at empowering students to organize themselves and develop grassroots initiatives for long-term improvements in civics education. To date, we've worked with high school students and teachers in over 35 states, and we have ambitious goals to continually increase youth voter registration rates year after year.
