Field Logistics Intern

May - August 2018 • Grantsville, UT

Logistics Intern

May - August 2017 • Cheyenne, WY

What I liked

The opportunity to present to corporate executives in Bentonville Arkansas was incredible! To present to the #1 corporation in the world (Fortune 500) was very humbling and it is rare a student can have such an experience. The exposure, connections, and culture could be very beneficial for placement and advancement in such organizations. Although not important, the pay for this opportunity is probably one of, if not the, highest you will find in an internship. Most interesting to find out is the actual culture and drive of such a huge business, it will surprise you!

What I wish was different

Communication and expectations from corporate offices was not good, but they had just experienced turnover with key leaders in the internship program.

Advice

Learn everything you can about the processes, where ever you go. These are tools you can carry with you to other organizations, and build upon. Try to put your bias aside before applying for an internship, you may be surprised. Pay attention to the culture and look for key success factors. Approach it as an opportunity, not a summer job. Listen to employees, understand the process, THEN think of how to improve it, or solve your assignment.

Engineering intern

May - July 2014 • Pottsville, PA

What I liked

The engineering team across the footprint was always eager to help with my projects. There was a lot of independent work which allowed for a lot of growth and learning.

What I wish was different

I wish the area was more conducive to under-21 activities. The company didn't put on any kind of extracurriculars and I didn't make any friends the whole time I was there.

Advice

Learn as much as possible, ask a lot of questions, keep in contact with those that helped you.
