Pharmacy Technician

May 2020 • Forest, VA

What I liked

The environment was mostly friendly and the people who work in a pharmacy are a step above those who work elsewhere in the store because you have to have high integrity to deal with drugs, and high intelligence to deal with people and not mess anything up.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been a more formal training program that walked me through everything I needed to do in the pharmacy and how to use the technology. It was a learn as you go type of experience which can easily make you feel like you're drowning at first. I got the hang of it, but I still wish I didn't have to feel like a burden asking so many questions on things I wasn't taught.

Advice

Any intelligent person can work here. You just need to be detailed and efficient and friendly. To anyone thinking about a pharmacy tech job, always keep kindness as your highest priority. It can be hard when things get rushed, messed up, or stressful, and especially when customers aren't happy. But when given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind... always.

Stocker

July - November 2020 • Fort Collins, CO

What I liked

I liked my coworkers a lot and the work itself was not too difficult.

What I wish was different

The customer interactions (it's Walmart, though, so I should have prepared myself more for that), and management. Management at my store was so unbelievably poor that it makes perfect sense as to why their turnover rate is so high.

Advice

If you're thinking about applying to Walmart, peruse the Walmart subreddit and reconsider your options.

Check Out Cashier

June 2020 • Metairie, LA

What I liked

I began this job opportunity feeling down after COVID changed my summer plans for an internship. However, i quickly found that the support of friendly and welcoming coworkers made this a worth wild learning experience for retail sales as well as sales of membership and credit offerings.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more transparency in the training and expectations portion of the onboarding program. I found that I began work without a clear understanding of the services I was asked to sell to members.

Advice

Don't let a bad mindset going into an opportunity affect how you value the experience.

Customer Service Representative

July 2020 • Taylor, PA

What I liked

As I was new to this country, I wanted to learn new things that happens in the life of a common American and so I decided to take a job at Walmart so as to also manage my time with my University work. The customers at Walmart were mostly polite and kind and since I was being sweet to many of my customers, my manager always had my back. The overall experience in this industry was really great as I also got an opportunity to work with the Anti-Money Laundering Business.

What I wish was different

I wish if the breaks were given to us in the right time. And also I wish if there were seats for us to sit in and work as sometimes even employee's satisfaction can increase an employer's productivity.

Advice

Try to smile always and make the customers pleased by answering their queries and even if you don't know the answer try helping them in a small sort of way which will be helpful to them in some kind of way.
