Sales Associate

August 2018 • Kennesaw, GA

What I liked

I'm not very fond of this job but i like that it allows me to pay rent and keep food on the table.

What I wish was different

Management, work load, employee treatment and expectations, pay, ability to unionize, etc.

Advice

Walmart is a company that does not really care about its employees and they will look to overwork you and underpay you as much as they can. I recommend this job to anyone who needs some sort of income that is better than fast food but if you can work at some other place that respects its employees and pays them a livable wage, I would recommend you go for that instead.

Cashier

July 2019 • Lafayette, CO

What I liked

Ease of entry to the position.

What I wish was different

Promptness of management to respond to job application, ability of managers to properly schedule work times, internal cohesiveness of management, transparency about wages and inflexible scheduling.

Advice

Wal-mart is not a bad work experience on its own. The most detrimental aspect of my time there has been the incompetence of management. Otherwise, it is what it is: repetitive, consistent retail work.

Labor

July 2018 • Rexburg, ID

What I liked

Since I’ve started working at Walmart as a labor worker, I have gained experience with the team and working as a team. I’ve been moving up as a more valued employee with offers of management to start leading at Walmart. As much as I’d like to take that offer with a better pay for my school expenses, I’ve set a goal to focus on school more.

What I wish was different

I work overnights during the weekend. That’s the only time that works with my schedule with school. I wish I worked during the day with fewer hours so I can still have my focus in school.

Advice

Working and going to school is not easy. If you learn how to work and go to school at the same time, managing your time with the important stuff first will be very easy and this will be helpful in the future with managing time with a family and other things.

Photo Lab Sales Associate

June 2017 - October 2019 • Richland Center, WI

What I liked

Working with other people and most definitely helping the elderly that had a hard time operating our kiosks.

What I wish was different

I wish my leaving of Walmart wasn’t so hateful in the last month of me being there, I had to deal with running three different departments all while working alone when it was a two-three person job.

Advice

If you go into this career be prepared to be yelled at by impatient customers and be prepared to do things that you weren’t told to do.
