What I liked

I loved the experience of having this as my first job. It was a great first job because it helped develop my social skills and group skills.

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have had a better management team.

Advice

My advice is to experience as much as you can and allow yourself to grow. However, do not let people walk all over you.

Fast Food Worker

June - August 2019 • Pearland, TX

What I liked

I loved that fact that I was able to understand how hard fast food workers work. Everything was so fast paced and I respect them even more for the hustle they have.

What I wish was different

I wish I would’ve taken the time to meet more of my coworkers at that time.

Advice

One piece of advice I will share is don’t take anything for granted. I was only working as a summer employee, but others were there full time trying to make a living. It was chaotic at times, but it was a humbling experience.

Fast Food Fry Cook

June - August 2019 • Pensacola, FL

What I liked

I enjoyed the atmosphere that the supervisors and general manager set up for all new coming members of the crew. Everyone helped me fit in, and I felt welcomed and honored to work with them.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have gotten more hours to work per week. My hours were already short, and they began getting cut as the end of summer reached me.

Advice

Make sure you find the right Whataburger to work at. If you find one that has dealt with young crew members before, they really will work hard to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Work hard and pull your own weight. Flipping burgers is not a glamorous job, but it is honest work.
